Full Electrical Installation for 15-Flat Block in Christchurch

Project Overview

Mission Road Electrical was tasked with the electrical installation in Christchurch for Aris House, a newly constructed block of 15 flats with commercial premises on the ground floor. This large-scale project required a full electrical fit-out, including LED lighting, fire alarm systems, a door entry system, and heating controls. Spanning over a year with intermittent breaks on-site, the project demonstrated Mission Road Electrical’s ability to adapt to changing requirements and ensure a high-quality outcome.

Customer Information

  • Client: Aris House
  • Location: Lymington Road, Highcliffe, Dorset, BH23 5GD
  • Industry: Residential and Commercial Property

Challenges Faced

One of the key challenges encountered during the project was a mid-construction change in the electricity supply to the individual flats. Initially, the design allowed for separate electricity supply connections, but due to unforeseen supplier changes, this was no longer possible. This required a change request and an adjusted approach to the electrical distribution.

Scope of Work

Mission Road Electrical provided a full electrical installation, which included:

  • LED lighting throughout the residential and commercial spaces
  • Fire alarm systems for safety compliance
  • Door entry systems to enhance security
  • Heating controls to improve energy efficiency

Throughout the project, minor adjustments were required due to evolving build requirements, such as relocating certain installations. Mission Road Electrical ensured these adaptations were seamlessly integrated into the final design.

Solutions Implemented

The electrical installation was executed in accordance with the agreed-upon scope of works, with adjustments made as necessary to accommodate new building specifications. The team worked closely with contractors to ensure all electrical components were properly installed and compliant with industry standards.

Safety & Compliance

Mission Road Electrical prioritised safety throughout the project by engaging a health and safety consultant to oversee operations. This ensured compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, reducing risks and maintaining a safe working environment.

Project Timeline

  • Start Date: Project commenced following the demolition of the existing property
  • Duration: Spanned over a year with various breaks on-site
  • Completion: Electrical installation finalised and commissioned in line with project deadlines

Project Cost & Value

  • Total Project Cost: £90,000
  • Long-term Benefits: The use of LED lighting and energy-efficient heating controls ensures ongoing cost savings for the property owner and tenants, reducing electricity consumption and maintenance expenses.

Lessons Learned

This project highlighted the importance of anticipating potential supplier changes early in the process. Moving forward, Mission Road Electrical will implement structured checklists and improved project planning tools to ensure seamless execution. Establishing clear communication channels with all stakeholders will also help mitigate unforeseen challenges.

Conclusion

The successful completion of the Aris House project showcases Mission Road Electrical’s expertise in delivering high-quality electrical installations for residential and commercial developments. Despite unexpected challenges, the team adapted effectively to provide a safe, efficient, and compliant electrical system that meets the needs of both residents and business tenants.

Absolute lifesaver, my fridge freezer was damaged during a move and the wires for the plug became disconnected from the fridge freezer. Phoned at 5:30pm, Jason was out by 7pm and had everything reconnected and back up and running perfectly. Thank you! Highly recommend and reasonable priced too for an out of hours call.

Brilliant service. Easy to book, relatively short wait time for appointment, deal with a human the whole time and the job that was done was immaculate. I had a fairly significant ask and was worried about scope creep as is usual with these things; but no, they came, they quoted, they got it done perfectly and they were friendly throughout. When more help was needed to get it done in time, they called in reinforcements so I wasn't inconvenienced for very long. Top work Luke and Liam.

Fantastic quality work from Luke. He installed full electrics for a garden room including hot tub, underfloor heating and WiFi enabled controls as well as neatly installing SWA cable. Good problem solving too. Neat, accurate, tidy, great attention to detail. Will be using mission road again. I already used them for an EV point install. Rob did that one, and again, fantastic.
